Dermal fillers

Dermal fillers – what are they?

The most commonly used cosmetic fillers available in the appearance medicine industry are based on Hyaluronic Acid (HA). HA is a natural forming sugar molecule, found in the eyes, joints and skin. So that HA can be used for cosmetic injections, raw HA is cross-linked and manufactured into an injectable gel. This is either a 3-step or more technically challenging 5-step process. It is generally agreed as the safest and most predictable of all the dermal fillers and requires no pre-testing (as required for bovine collagen therapy). The increased longevity and safety profile of HA has markedly reduced the use of collagen.

Instant results

Treatment with fillers gives instant results, unlike botulinum toxin therapy (Botox®/Dysport®), which takes several days to start working. When injecting fillers, once maximum correction of a line or wrinkle is reached, or desired volume enhancement is achieved, the practitioner stops injecting any further product in to that area.

Deborah personally chooses the ideal product from a range of available HAs including several different concentrations, or densities, of HAs suitable for augmentation and rejuvenation of different areas of the face. Fillers are often used in conjunction with botulinum toxin to achieve quite remarkable results and amazing transformations.

Treatments with dermal fillers

Rejuvenation through hydration

[face, neck, décolletage and hands]
Treatment is performed every 2 weeks for 3 treatments, one month after that, and then top-ups at six-monthly intervals. It is suitable for areas of dehydration or skin that looks like crepe paper, e.g. backs of hands, chest, neck, forehead and crows feet.

Correction of fine lines and wrinkles

[fine lines and wrinkles]
CPM technology (Cohesive Polydensified Matrix) is an ideal treatment for fine lines and wrinkles. There is no other filler available that can be injected as superficially as this specially formulated HA. This makes it very good value for money, as minimal product is required for ultimate line correction. It is ideal for all fine to moderate lines on the face. It is especially useful when treating upper and lower lip lines, as minimal product lessens the likelihood of over 'bulking' of the area, resulting in stiffening or ridging when smiling and talking. This product is designed to integrate into the skin over 2 to 4 days, providing a very natural-looking correction.

Lip augmentation

[lip shape and volume]
The natural-looking result also makes CPM an ideal choice for lip augmentation, creating a lovely soft and natural-looking and -feeling lip. Unlike some of the other HAs, this latest technology does not create blue lines, chord-like ridges or lumpiness that follow treatment with older products.

The more superficially an HA is injected, the longer it lasts. While longevity varies a great deal from person to person, CPM can last up to 18 months in certain areas and in some people. It may take a few sessions to get to a maintenance level, but once this is reached, top-ups are required less and less frequently.

Volumising with EVE (Extra Volumising Elasticity)

[lip volume, nose, deeper folds and creases, chin, cheek]
EVE is the product of choice for subtle, natural-looking volumising with added lift. It can also be used in the body of the lip for a natural-looking, fuller lip. It is ideal for injecting into cheeks for a soft natural-looking enhancement, as well as the lower face areas such as nose, chin and jaw . It is able to give added lift through its highly elastic properties. Correction continues to improve over the first week post treatment.

Sculpting and volume replacement

[cheeks, temples, jaw, chin, nose, revolumisation]
We use a filler that provides the opportunity for ultimate augmentation of the face with HPM technology [Hybrid Plastic Matrix]. HPM is for reshaping areas of the face, or replacing lost volume through aging, trauma, illness or minor defects. It is the thickest in the range and therefore lasts the longest. It is very plastic, as well as elastic, so as with the other products in the range, results are very natural looking. It is used predominantly for mid and lower face sculpting, where extra volume and reshaping is required.

After treatment?

Downtime following treatment is minimal, but varies from person to person and the products used. After most treatments, some mineral make up can be applied immediately to cover any temporary redness. Swelling is usually minimal, but bruising is possible. Products and medications to avoid immediately prior to treatment will be discussed at consultation, to minimise the chances of bruising.

Combination treatment

Sometimes a combination of products is required for the best results. Each treatment is based on individual requirements and tailored to them, taking into account the desired outcome, limitations of the non-surgical treatments, and available budget. No treatment is too big or too small. A consultation is necessary to create the right treatment programme for each person.

Free consultation

A full explanation of side effects and complications is given before treatment is carried out, along with a written consent form, which needs to be read and signed.

Deborah offers free no obligation consultations to discuss and prepare a treatment plan exactly right for you.
