Cosmetic

Cosmetic surgery is the process of reconstructing the body or face for aesthetic reasons and uses similar surgical techniques as plastic surgery.

Some examples of the cosmetic procedures offered are described here though we encourage you to contact us to discuss your personal needs as cosmetic surgery is highly individualised.

We also offer a variety of non-surgical cosmetic techniques.

Please note: Late cancellation might incur a cancellation fee.

facial enhancement

Facial enhancement uses implants to improve and enhance contours of the face. Implants are inserted in the areas of the face to bring out certain facial features and balance the overall appearance of the face. For example, implants may be inserted into the cheeks to make them look larger, higher or fuller. Chin implants may be chosen by people who think their chin looks too small and jaw implants are commonly used to give the jaw line a more defined appearance. As with other implant surgery, the implants may be made of human tissue or synthetic materials such as silicone or polythene.

facelift

A facelift is also known as meloplasty or rhytidectomy. It is a surgical procedure, which aims to reduce the signs of ageing by tightening and removing sagging skin from the face and neck. The face and skin can be made to appear younger by surgically tightening facial muscles to improve tone and removing or repositioning excess fat. Facelifts do not change the bone structure of the face, and are commonly combined with other procedures such as a brow lift or eyelid surgery.

nose reduction

Nose surgery is also known as rhinoplasty. This surgical procedure involves reshaping and reducing the size the nose by width or even profile to improve its aesthetic appearance. It is a highly individualised procedure, which works around existing bone and cartilage structure. Your surgeon will carefully assess what changes are best for you.

lip enlargement

Lip enlargement (or sometimes called lip augmentation) is a cosmetic procedure, which reduces fine lines and wrinkles, enhances shape and volume, and gives a natural fullness around the lips. The procedure uses implants to improve the fullness and appearance of the lips. More recently, non-surgical alternative has become available, which involves injecting fillers into the lips.

brow lift

A brow lift, reduces wrinkle lines, improves frown lines, raises sagging eyebrows and places the eyebrows in a youthful position.

A brow lift rejuvenates the face above the eyes to restore a more refreshed appearance that better reflects a patient’s natural vibrancy. By removing excess sagging, skin on the forehead and repositioning the underlying muscles and tissues, a brow lift can correct a heavy, sagging brow, eliminate deep furrows, and restore a smoother, more youthful contour to the upper one-third of the face.

eyelid surgery

Also known as a blepharoplasty, eyelid surgery improves facial appearance and reduces the signs of ageing. The surgical procedure removes excess fatty tissue and/or loose skin surrounding the eyes to give a more youthful appearance. This reduces bags under the eyes, droopiness of the lower eyelids and improves the natural contours of the upper eyelid. One of the most common surgeries, it can be done alone or at the same time as other procedures such as a facelift or brow lift. Blepharoplasty can also be performed under local or general anaesthetic.

ear surgery

Ear surgery is also known as otoplasty. This surgical procedure changes the angle and shape of ears, to correct ears which may be protruding or uneven. It reshapes the tissue (cartilage) in the ears, which means they can lie closer to the head. It is a common procedure in children though can also be successfully carried out in teenagers and adults.

chin enlargement

Chin enlargement or augmentation is also known as mentoplasty and it is designed to reshape the chin to keep a balanced shape to the face. Implants inserted near the chin bone can enhance the size and shape of the area giving better facial contours. Implants may be made of human tissue or synthetic materials such as silicone or polythene.

neck lift

A neck lift involves tightening the loose, sagging skin and muscles of the neck with stitches for a smoother neck profile. As incisions are normally made in the fold under the chin and behind the ear, scarring is hidden as much as possible. Excess fat may also be removed by liposuction at the same time if required. A neck lift procedure is normally incorporated into a facelift procedure.

breast augmentation

Breast augmentation is an operation designed not only to increase the size of the breasts, but to improve the shape at the same time. This is done with the insertion of implants under the breast tissue. Breast augmentation may also be combined with a breast lifting operation (mastopexy) to lift the breast up higher if they have ‘dropped’ with time. There are different types of implants, these are usually filled with silicone, saline or both. Your surgeon will discuss the best type of implant for you.

Tristram Clinic is currently the only facility on Hamilton that utilises “Crisalix” technology. This state of the art VR 4D and 3D imaging equipment can help you make decisions surrounding the look you are after and give you before and after pictures of your own breasts using computer simulation.

breast reduction

A breast reduction, or reduction mammoplasty, is a surgical procedure that reduces the size of breasts by removing excess fat tissue and skin. Overly large breasts particularly can cause health issues and emotional problems for some women, such as physical pain and discomfort and this procedure can reduce the discomfort and improve quality of life.

breast lift

A breast lift, also known as mastopexy, is a surgical procedure that aims to raise and firm the breast and give them a perter looking appearance. Excess skin may be removed to tighten surrounding tissue and the internal breast tissue may be reshaped to support the new breast contour.

Overly large breasts particularly can cause health issues and emotional problems for some women, such as physical pain and discomfort and this procedure can reduce the discomfort and improve quality of life.

inverted nipples

Inverted nipples appear as slits or holes in the breasts at the location of the nipples (on one or both breasts). The surgical procedure involves making a tiny incision underneath the nipple with the aim of reshaping the nipple so that it projects outwards from the breast rather than going inwards. Depending on the type of surgery used, the milk ducts may be affected (meaning you may not be able to produce milk) though the sensitivity of the breasts is preserved.

tummy tuck

A tummy tuck is also known as abdominoplasty. It is designed to improve the shape and tone of the middle and lower stomach (abdominal) region by removing excess fat and sagging skin. This results in better tone of the underlying tissue and a firmer, flatter and shapelier tummy. This is a procedure commonly performed after gastric bypass surgery or in patients who have lost a significant amount of weight and require removal of excess skin. In these cases, a tummy tuck may also be performed with other body-contouring surgery.

body contouring

Body contouring involves a range of cosmetic procedures, which can improve the body’s appearance by altering its size or shape. Surgical methods range from removal of fat and/or excess skin to surgical implants and lifts to improve skin tone and definition. It is most commonly performed on the waist, abdomen, thighs, buttocks, upper torso and upper arms, particularly after losing a significant amount of weight.

liposuction

Liposuction is also known as lipectomy or lipoplasty. It is an invasive surgical procedure that improves the body’s contours and proportion by removing localised, excess fat. This results in a slimmer, more toned and shapely appearance in specific areas of the body – common areas targeted include thighs, buttocks, abdomen, arms, neck and under the chin. Sometimes more than one treatment session is necessary to obtain the desired results.

thigh lift

Thigh lift is also known as thighplasty. This surgery reshapes and tightens the thighs by reducing excess skin (and sometimes fat) for smoother skin and better-proportioned contours of the thighs, particularly the inner thigh, and lower body. An incision is generally made at the junction of the thigh and the groin or down the inner thigh towards the knee.
