botox® and dysport®

It is a non-surgical procedure whereby a small amount of BOTOX® or Dysport® is administered into selected facial muscles using a very fine needle. Generally, the treatment takes around 10 minutes. Discomfort is typically minimal and brief, and no anaesthetic is usually required. The injection may sting for a few seconds but normal activities can be resumed soon after. After the injection, it takes 2-3 days for the treatment to begin taking effect and about 10 – 14 days to see the full effect. The dose recommended for the treatment will vary depending on your individual situation and the severity of your lines.

How does it work?

Botulinum Toxin is a natural, purified protein that relaxes wrinkle-causing muscles, creating a rejuvenated appearance. The active ingredient in Botox® is derived from bacteria in much the same way penicillin is derived from mould. Botox® can be used to relax specific facial muscles that cause wrinkles. (These are the wrinkles that are formed during facial expression). Once the muscles are relaxed, you cannot contract them and continue the undesirable facial expressions. Thus, the lines gradually smooth and new lines are prevented from forming.

BOTOX® works specifically on the muscles treated. This means that any muscles left untreated, including untreated facial muscles, should not be affected by the BOTOX® treatment.

How many treatments?

The effect of BOTOX® can last up to 4 months before lines slowly begin to return. If you have repeat BOTOX® treatments, the effect tends to last longer.

Cost

The cost per unit of Botox® is $17.50. This means that the cost to treat the following areas are approximately:

Forehead: $170 – $350

Frown: $350 – $525

Crows feet: $210 – $525

Upper lip: $70 – $140

dermal fillers
Sonya, Stella and Maddie have been extensively trained and have more than 40 years experience in using dermal fillers to correct fine and deep lines in the face. A plethora of completely satisfied patients are testament to the Appearance Medicine team’s artist eye and ability to rejuvenate the appearance without over correcting. Sonya, Stella and Maddie are truly artists when it comes to using dermal fillers for facial rejuvenation.

How does it work?

A dermal (skin) filler is a gel which is carefully injected beneath the skin’s surface to diminish the depth of facial folds and wrinkles, and provides definition and volume to lips. The injectable gel acts as a skin “filler” to gently restore structure and volume to the skin. Dermal fillers are used to softly enhance your lips or to smooth out facial wrinkles and folds, and provides a natural look and feel.

Most dermal fillers are made from a natural complex sugar called Hyaluronic Acid. Hyaluronic Acid (HA) is found naturally within the tissues of living cells, including human skin. HA assists in skin hydration by attracting and holding water and also combines with collagen and elastin to provides skin structure and elasticity. In its natural form, HA is a single chain sugar, which is naturally metabolised (broken down) by the body within days. It is important that a dermal filler is not metabolised by your body quickly, so that the results last for as long as possible. To achieve this, HA is cross-linked, a process by which individual sugar chains are linked together to form a kind of mesh which takes the body much longer to metabolise.

Unlike BOTOX®, which treats dynamic wrinkles by relaxing the muscles that cause wrinkle-forming facial expressions, dermal fillers are placed below the skin’s surface to literally ‘fill in’ or ‘plump up’ the static wrinkles and folds that are present at rest.

How many treatments?

Dermal fillers are used to diminish the depth of wrinkles and create a smoother, more refreshed facial appearance that should last for at least 4 to 12 months.

An approximate cost for a treatment with dermal filler is:

$430 – $450 for 0.5mls

$760 – $810 for 1ml

$1,560 for 2mls.

lip enhancement

Did you know there are many other features that make lips appealing? Features such as the lip border, balance in both the upper and lower lip or symmetry on both the left and right sides. Even details such as smiley sides with corners that turn up, or rich ridges connecting the upper lip to the nose giving that lovely curve to the upper lip, all make lips highly appealing.

At Tristram Appearance Medicine, we consider ourselves artists and try to achieve lips that are in harmony with your facial features. Augmenting is a sophisticated procedure that requires a highly experienced practitioner. We are conscientious to keep up to date with the latest lip procedures and ensure clients are always completely satisfied with their lip enhancement. Lips are delicate and beautiful.

for men

“Appearance medicine is no longer the domain of the girls”. Over the last 5 – 6 years we have seen a marked increase in the number of men seeking treatment to help them look on the outside as young as they feel on the inside. Globally, statistics show more men are seeking treatment for the first time than women! We have spent a considerable amount of time in recent years upgrading skills in achieving a very masculine aesthetic look through specific treatments. Creating a strong masculine architecture of the face, reducing the appearance of lines and wrinkles, enhancing the structure of the jawline to produce harmony and masculinity and prescribing the best in the increasing range of options for male skincare is important.

Cost

An approximate cost to treat a male patient’s frown is $420 – $525 and treating ageing of the mid face, lower face or jawline can range from $750 to $1560.

excessive sweating
Do you hate those wet patches under your arms? Find yourself having to change shirts often, washing, going through deodorant brands without any real results and sick of putting up with it?

Hyperhidrosis (the medical term for excessive sweating) affects millions of people around the world. Although high temperatures or stress can increase perspiration, they don’t cause hyperhidrosis. Instead, hyperhidrosis may be an inherited trait that stops the body from properly regulating its temperature.

BOTOX® is indicated for the treatment of hyperhidrosis and can deliver an effective long-lasting result.

Also Iontophoresis can be very effective for hyperhidrosis affecting palms, soles and armpits. This involves using a device to pass a mild electric current through the skin while soaking in tap water. Tristram clinic also has an iontophoresis machine which people can use short-term while deciding whether to invest in their own machine.

How does it work?

Botulinum toxin injections are the most effective treatment for axillary hyperhidrosis. They block the sympathetic nerves in the armpits and can stop sweating for a few months.

Botulinum toxin is injected into the skin of both armpits without any need for local anaesthetic. This procedure is a walk in, walk out procedure that consists of small, multiple injections in a grid-like pattern over the affected areas.

How many treatments?

There is no downtime, it is safe, easy and lasts on average 4-9 months.

Cost

The cost for this procedure is $1,100.
